Prompts for Poems

I hadn't planned on providing a prompt a day, but I see that by starting out that way, I may have created that expectation. Here, then, for day 3, is a prompt I offered in 2011 that has led to some strong work. These 7 more, from last year, will cover me through day 10! I promise to offer more, or links to more, again by the eleventh.

  2. Hi Carrie, I hope you can help me. I wrote a poem using Munch's The Scream as the theme, am I allowed to use a copy of the painting with the poem, say by the title? Thank you for any help you can give me. So far have written two Haiku each day since the first.

    1. You can list the painting's name, date, and artist in an italicized epigraph under the title of your poem, if that's what you mean. I'm glad the challenge is going well for you!

  6. In That Kitchen...
Oh my goodness - I'm not sure whether I've written a prose poem or just prose. But I do know this: I'll never be able to read it from beginning to end for workshopping without bawling my eyes out!
Thanks for the wonderful prompts, Carrie!
